Innate Trigger – Recruiter of hope

The operation began precisely at 04:37 a.m., when the Barrier was activated and enveloped the entire building block A49 of Megacity 1 in the North Africa Grid. Everything froze: lights went out, engines fell silent, screens turned blank. The new version of the Barrier did not destroy it simply nullified. The entire block was disconnected not only from every digital connection but also from physical contact with the outside world. You could see it, but you couldn’t approach. You could hear it, but you couldn’t shout back. It was like a transparent wall and everyone knew: nothing would come out alive. The overlords deployed their special units. The residents of A49 didn’t have time to react. Within 12 minutes, the entire resistance cell operating in the area had been eliminated. Most were caught off guard. Others still hoped they could escape through the old sewer corridors. But even those had been blocked. Or so the overlords believed. Only one survived. Ashveil a previously unknown hacker, not yet recognized by the Resistance leadership. Hidden in a reinforced underground chamber he had converted into a darkcell for illegal transmissions, he managed, in the final minutes of the operation, to gather enough data about the new form of the Barrier and transmit a message. Using a makeshift scrambler and an old-style relay buried 52 meters beneath the surface, he sent a short cryptosignal to every known node of the Grid.

“The Barrier has been upgraded it now functions as a physical boundary as well as an electric and electronic one. Reconstruct underground shelters and organize communication and countermeasure hubs below the surface. The Barrier is only effective above ground. For now, at least.”

The signal went through. First to the Eastern Grid. Then to the colonies of the Wastelands. And then everywhere. Within less than an hour, the message had reached every active Resistance cell.

The Resistance was far from over.

It had simply begun to dig deeper.
