Innate Trigger – The Balance of Power Is About to Change
In no megacity, anywhere in the world, does failure exist.
For years, the world has been divided into the 8 Grids imposed by the Overlords as the perfect solution to humanity’s problems. There are no breakdowns, no hardware malfunctions, not even the concept of human error when it comes to life support. The infrastructure is perfect, exactly as the Overlords designed it to be, providing what they promised, a supposedly “safe and secure life”.
The systems and services of the megacities operate with absolute precision and without a single error, providing the millions of people living across the megacities of the 8 Grids with a life free from anxiety about the day ahead. Of course, this is also the most important part of the deception behind the logic of the Grids. In essence, the system has transformed the population of the planet, those who did not leave for the colonies on other planets, into a global workforce, confined within the megacities of the Grids and granted access to the system’s perfect infrastructure.
A perfect prison, one that supports human life until each individual reaches their natural end, provided they obey the commands of the Overlords. Otherwise, they are imprisoned and subjected to all manner of experiments and programs, some of which are worse than death itself. The other option is exile to the Wastelands, where entirely different rules of survival apply. Everyone who finds themselves there fights for their life every single day, with no support beyond their own survival skills, unless they manage to become part of one of the communities roaming the desolate territories of the old world.
Therefore, whenever life support is cut off within any sector of any megacity, in any Grid, it can mean only one thing. An operation by the Overlords’ military is underway. An operation against either the organized Resistance or a Tech Cartel that, for some reason, has been targeted. The Overlords, after all, know about the existence of the Tech Cartels and permit them to manufacture and trade implants and prosthetics, as long as they remain useful to the system.
And now, in Megacity 2 of the North America Grid, the entire Southern Sector has been cut off from life support. The Overlords’ military is deploying around a prosthetics manufacturing facility belonging to a Tech Cartel, sealing off the entire area and activating the Barrier system, a technological perimeter designed to prevent any form of electronic or physical access to the target.
From wherever they are within the Southern Sector of Megacity 2, the inhabitants of the North America Grid can see the unmistakable electric-blue glow marking the location where the Barrier has been activated. There is nothing they can do. All they can do is receive updates from the Resistance through secured communication channels, following events as they unfold from a distance and hoping for a favorable outcome for the Resistance.
But for some time now, there has been another presence within the megacities. A presence that exists in every Grid. Something that stands between the Overlords, the Resistance, the Tech Cartels, and the population. And this presence is becoming stronger. Stronger with every passing day. It will not be long before it begins to influence the course of events.
