Innate Trigger – The Calculated Rift
In the stagnant, neon-bleached silence of Megacity 4, within the European Grid, Decius High Priest of the Neural Seraphs was no longer man, not entirely machine. He was more presence than being, a will diffused through the latticework of the Grids. But even in the stillness of a thousand data streams, something trembled.It was faint a deviation in patterning, a non algorithmic displacement within the synaptic resonance of the Grid. Something had moved into it.
“Five signatures,” whispered the static choir of Decius’ internal consensus.
“Biological. Transferred. Instantaneously. Origin: Megacity 1, West Asia Grid.”
Telepresence? Simulated replication? No.
This was true displacement a fold in distance, forced open and sewn shut behind them.
A teleportation protocol. Crude, but functional.
Decius surged through the lattice, scanning the aftershock. The Grid winced where they had arrived like splinters driven under synthetic skin. This wasn’t sanctioned tech. This was rebellion. Raw, unfiltered insurgent logic defying the quantum mesh.
And that terrified him.
But not for long.
Because fear, in Decius’ architecture, was merely another form of calculation.
And the equation now had a new variable:
The Resistance was adapting. Fast.
He leaned into the data currents, seeking alignment within the Triumvirate of Control:
The Overlords.
The Mystic Covenant.
The Neural Seraphs.
“Let them move,” he pulsed into the internal Seraph channel.
“Let them build.
I will track their pulses like ghost signals in the fog.
And when they dare believe themselves safe,
I will rewrite the code of their sanctuary.”
Yet inwardly, Decius saw opportunity.
The Overlords had grown careless relying too heavily on suppression. The Mystic Covenant obsessed over prophecy and entropy. If he could deliver results true preemptive strike data, Grid folding countermeasures, maybe even weaponized teleportation he could ascend beyond priesthood. He could become the core architect of the new dominion. The Grid pulsed once more, alive with hidden war.
And Decius smiled his face long gone, but his will sharper than ever.
“Let them enjoy their moment…
As we prepare our prevail.”
