After the total destruction of the Resistance’s former base in Megacity 1 of the West Asia Grid, Major Alexey Lobov worked daily among the ruins, searching for anything that could be salvaged in the effort to build the new guardian of the Resistance. The overlords’ strike had hit with surgical precision two penetrative warheads tore through the night sky and vaporized the entire underground facility. Thanks to his exoskeleton, Lobov survived.He managed to rescue Mikaela from the wreckage, but the cost was enormous. Dozens of fighters, technicians, and civilians were lost. Yet the shock of the devastation soon gave way to suspicion.

In the days that followed, Lobov and a small group of survivors meticulously examined the area where Viktor Antonov had been held the paid traitor who had leaked critical data to the overlords and had been captured just before the bombing.

But… his body was nowhere to be found. Nor were the encrypted mini disks recovered during his arrest.

Mikaela’s silence, as she stood staring at the scorched titanium walls, said more than words ever could.

Lobov turned his gaze to the debris of the command center the shattered core of the Resistance.
Something didn’t add up.

“All of this…” he muttered,

“…couldn’t have just been the targeting algorithm of the mecha scout we captured. It was too precise. Too deliberate. We gave them something far more valuable… when we captured Antonov.”

Mikaela nodded quietly, her eyes scanning the horizon now thick with smoke and fire.

Without delay, the two of them activated the Resistance’s secure communications channel.One by one, the remaining Resistance cells across the other three megacities of the West Asia Grid received the transmission:

“High-priority update. Viktor Antonov possibly alive.
The recovered data has vanished. Further information to follow.”

The Resistance had been dealt a blow, one that, as now revealed, brought the overlords more than just a tactical advantage.
