The ambitions of the Neural Seraphs extend beyond the limits of the Megacities in the Europe Grid. For them, no boundary is strong enough to contain their desire to control everything for their benefit. Megacity 1 of the Europe Grid is just the beginning, and for their plans, the natural progression is to seize control of all three megacities, thereby dominating the entire European Grid. This would serve as their base to plot the conquest of the remaining Grids. Following this logic, they also sought contact with the Mystic Covenant to influence the events in the Wastelands, granting them access to territories outside the Grids. This aggressive approach stems from the megalomania and thirst for power of Decius, who found fertile ground in the power voids left by the overlords. While the Grid project succeeded in enslaving the majority of humanity by luring them into believing in the “new and safe” life within the Grids, the increasingly strong armed resistance in every megacity and across every Grid has begun dealing serious blows to the overlords. Decius, aware that humanity’s yearning for freedom would bolster the resistance with thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, understood that the resistance could inflict damage both in the physical and digital battlefields. Highly skilled fighters, former soldiers, and police officers organized and trained the rebels to handle weapons and learn to plan and execute missions successfully. At the same time, information technology experts taught volunteers how to conduct cyberattacks and extract data from the network to aid the resistance. While the armed resistance was growing, Decius built his own sect. After three years of preparation in the dark arts of computer science and programming, he succeeded in merging the science of information technology with occultism. He conducted techno-magical rituals, harmonizing the digital world with physical reality and the frequencies of existence. The armed resistance reached a similar level by leveraging technology and knowledge that led to the creation of devices and gateways, enabling movement between megacities at first and later even from one Grid to another. Decius would offer his alliance to the overlords, aiming to gain access to the digital data network of Megacity 1 in the Europe Grid. Gradually, he planned to impose his own dark reality. Soon, the resistance in Megacity 1 of the Europe Grid will be forced to take bold and desperate actions to survive and fight back against both the overlords’ schemes and the power of Decius, who will test them beyond every known limit.
