Reva glanced at the small chronometer embedded in the inner side of her wrist. 04:12. In forty-eight minutes, she would arrive at the new headquarters of the Resistance enclave in Megacity 1, within the West Asia grid. The first teleportation test had gone well but nothing and no one could offer complete assurance that this time would be as smooth.
She recalled Major Alexey Lobov’s words from yesterday’s briefing:
“The mourning is over. From here on out, our mission is to make the new Resistance enclave in Megacity 1 a foundation of hope and inspiration in our fight against the Overlords. No fighter’s sacrifice should be in vain. No loss forgotten.
Children, women, and men together, united we forged the Resistance in every Grid and every Megacity, driven by one purpose and guided by hope. And that is how we shall continue by forging new fighters.”

The voice of the technician through the teleport chamber intercom made all twenty fighters turn their heads toward the camera beside the speaker.
She held her breath and pressed her forehead to the cold surface of the chamber wall. Around her stood the comrades who would form the new Resistance in Megacity 1, West Asia grid.
They all knew what they were risking.
No one stepped back.
Her heart pounded. Anxiety. Fear. And yet…
Somewhere deeper inside, a different feeling.
Hope.
Perhaps the last one remaining.
And maybe the most dangerous of all.
